Dover Library presents DOVER SCENES THROUGH THE YEARS
The event
Dover Fire Chief and local historian Russ Volkert will present a program titled “Dover Scenes Through the Years” on Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 PM in the community room at Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut St. During the program, Volkert will talk about the images on many of the traffic light control boxes around the city of Dover. The objective of this project was two-fold: Project leaders wanted to make history visible and accessible to the public in a low-impact way and they wanted to tone down the utilitarian appearance of the large metal enclosures. Volkert will explain that the different images are intended for different purposes: More current images are intended to stir memories and reminiscences of residents who can relate directly to things and places as they existed within their lifetime while other images are to show things in the deeper past that few may even have an awareness of and that were a part of the area and the community as it developed and grew over the last century and a half. This program will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room at the library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, Dover.
