Earth Day 5K and Celebration at Southside Community Park
The event
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s Earth Day 5K and Celebration will take place this Sunday, April 24th at the Southside Community Park in New Philadelphia. Registration for the 5K will begin at 10:00 AM with the race kicking off at 11:00 AM. The route for the 5K trail run can be found on the library’s website, www.tusclibrary.org. The top three finishers in the male, female, and kid categories will receive a medal. The race will begin at the Soccer Field Facility, so attendees are asked to follow the signs for the soccer fields for event parking.
The race will be followed by an Earth Day Celebration from noon until 3:00 PM in the Pollinator Garden area of the park. All children that attend the Earth Day Celebration will receive a free book and other fun giveaways. Attendees will enjoy a Pop-Up Library, crafts, face painting from the library, as well as learning about recycling from the OSU Extension Office, exploring butterflies and pollinators with All a Flutter Butterflies, learning about native animals from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and other fun activities for the whole family.
