Empower Tusc Announces the Tuscarawas and Carroll County Suicide Memorial Walk

The event

Empower Tusc is honored to announce the inaugural Tuscarawas and Carroll County Suicide Memorial Walk, slated for Sunday, October 15th, starting at 4 pm at the New Philadelphia South Side Community Park.

This pivotal event seeks to shine a light on the poignant issue of suicide, promote mental health awareness, and foster a sense of unity within the community.

“We believe in the power of community. When we come together, we not only remember those we’ve lost but also inspire hope and resilience in those still struggling,” explained Empower Tusc Coordinator, Jodi Salvo. “This event is not just a walk – it’s a movement towards understanding, compassion, and, most importantly, prevention.”

The Memorial Walk will be graced by speaker Shannon Ortiz, LPCCS, CCTP, from Life After Loss, offering invaluable insights and words of solace for attendees. There will be a meaningful opportunity for attendees to publicly honor and remember their lost loved ones by ringing a bell in their memory and taking home a cherished memory token, ensuring that the lives we’ve lost are forever remembered and celebrated. Light refreshments will also be available.

Registration will commence at 3:30 pm, and the community is encouraged to turn out in large numbers. This event not only honors the memories of those we’ve lost but also showcases the strength and resolve of a community committed to change.
