“Letter from Birmingham jail” – Dover Library
The event
The Dover Public Library will celebrate Black History Month by hosting a public reading of “Letter From Birmingham Jail” at 6:30pm, on Thursday, February 22nd. This impactful letter was wrote by Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963 while being held in jail in Birmingham, Alabama. He wrote the letter in response to religious leaders who criticized his activism during the Civil Rights Movement. You may also volunteer to read part of this letter aloud at the program.
