Local Author Talks about his Battle with Leukemia at Dover Library
The event
When local author Dan Muller found that a few blood numbers were out of range during a routine exam, he began a twenty-month health journey, which he documented in a journal. That journal became Daniel Muller’s latest book Fighting for More Golden Years: Battling Disease and Embracing Hope after Age 65. Muller will be at the Dover Public Library on Thursday, July 10 at 6:30 PM to share his personal battle with leukemia, the mental challenges, how to self-advocate for treatment, how to choose a doctor, his lessons learned, how to handle anxiety, and the importance of hope and faith. A book signing will follow the program.
Muller was diagnosed with Hairy cell leukemia (HCL), which is a rare, chronic form of leukemia where the bone marrow produces too many abnormal lymphocytes These cells, called hairy cells, have distinctive hair-like projections on their surface, which is how the disease gets its name. The disease is 5 times more common in men than in women. Statistics show that 85-90% of people with HCL achieve complete remission.
This program will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
