Peter Cratchit Portrayal at Dover Library

/ December 18, 2024

The event

In a program titled “Peter Cratchit: All Grown Up,” to be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 6:30 PM, Chris Hart will speak as Peter, the eldest Cratchit child, now grown up with a family of his own, to share what has happened to all the characters so richly created by Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol.  Along the way, he reflects how his family now celebrates Christmas. This portrayal is a charming look at the evolution of Victorian Christmas customs, many of which we still observe today, as well as an update on the Cratchit family.

Hart has made a successful career out of portraying famous characters in history. He has personally researched and written scripts for more than 40 characters. He has not only performed many times locally, but he has also performed at the National Storytellers Conference in Jonesborough, Tennessee and for the National Park Service. On the days he is not performing, Hart is employed as a college professor at seven universities and a guest lecturer at two others. He and his wife Susie live in Newcomerstown.

This program will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room at the library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, Dover.  Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
