The event

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will be hosting photographer and astronomy enthusiast Terry Barnhill for the program “Astronomy in Colonial America 1776,” on Monday, July 13th at 6:30PM. This program is part of the America 250 systemwide series.
“I think this program is going to be especially unique for America 250 because it taps into a lot of our cultural origins as a country and shows how far this field has come, from things like Poor Richard’s Almanac and the building of the first observatories to now having national parks dedicated to the prevention of light pollution so that we can still see the same stars our forefathers saw,” says Deborah Kenney, Customer Service Assistant.
Barnhill will discuss astronomy and its discoveries in the 1700s, including the beginnings of its exploration in America and even Native America perspectives.
To sign up for this free program, you can call 330-364-4474 or visit our event calendar at tusclibrary.org.
The Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave NW New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
