Program on Whiskey Rebellion at Main Library
The event
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host New Philadelphia resident and Pennsylvania native Kerry Metzger presenting on the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 on May 21st at 6:30PM at its Main Library. He will discuss the uprising of farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania protesting a federal whiskey tax.
According to Metzger, he has always been interested in history and, growing up in Somerset, Pennsylvania, there was a historical residence belonging to Herman Husband from the late 1700s that had ties to the Whiskey Rebellion.
