Role Playing Game Club

/ December 21, 2024

The event

The Dover Public Library invites teens in grades six through twelve to join the Role Playing Game Club for a one-shot adventure called The Winter Tournament on Saturday, December 21 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. In the game, players will be portraying heroes invited to participate in various challenges to see who can become the champion. Registration is not required. Interested patrons can call the library at 330-343-6123 with any questions.

This event is based on role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, customized for teen patrons of the library. Players take on the role of a character, like a bard or a wizard, and enter a world of collaborative storytelling based on a premise given to them by the game leader. Choices made by the characters affect the story, with dice rolls and character traits determining how those actions are resolved. The current story, or campaign, may come to an end, but players can take what they have started and continue the story in a new campaign of their own creation.

For this adventure, players can bring or make their own character of any level, from any role playing game. Premade characters will also be provided for those who want to jump into the game quickly.

The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut St. in Dover, Ohio, across from Dover High School and online at www.doverlibrary.org.
