Tuscarawas County Writers Guild
Coming Soon
The event
Tuscarawas County Writers Guild extends an open invitation to all writers – young and old, experienced and new – to meet at 6:30 PM in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, on the first Monday of each month. The group will meet on April 6 this month.
“Our library has always been very supportive of the local writing community,” says Jim Gill, library director. “Reading and writing complement each other naturally so we look forward to working with the Writer’s Guild as we both strive to create a culture of books, literacy and reading in the Tuscarawas Valley.”
The Tuscarawas County Writers Guild first met in 2003. The first members of the guild were students in a writing class taught by Joseph McLauglin, a retired associate professor of English at Stark State College in Canton. Other presidents of the group included Rick Maloy, Stacy Hardin, Cherie Kail and John R. Kiste III. Several months after Kiste’s death in August 2025, the guild members elected Bre Stephens as their new president.
On behalf of the Guild, Stephens invites writers to be active participants. At the guild meetings, beginning writers may engage in writing drills or other exercises designed to improve their writing skills. More experienced writers will learn how to prepare for publishing and marketing their work.
For more information, visit the guild’s Facebook page or call the library at 330-343-6123.
