Voice of Democracy Scholarship
The event
Your chance to win the top national scholarship of $35,000 for the VFW’s Voice of Democracy starts at the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445. Area students can compete by writing and recording an essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is, “What are the greatest attributes of our Democracy?” The competition is open to all Tuscarawas County students in grades 9-12. You can pick up an application at your school’s guidance office. To enter, record your original 3 to 5 minute essay on an audio CD or flash drive, attach it to a typed copy of the essay and the completed application form and drop it off or mail to the VFW Post 1445 (441 Park Avenue NW) in New Philadelphia. Entries must be received by Tuesday, October 31st. The top 3 local entries will be awarded scholarships ($1,500 for 1st, $1,000 for 2nd and $500 for 3rd places).
