Walking tour of “tiendas” in Downtown Dover on September 21
The event
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Fourth & Faith is hosting a “Tienda Tour” on Saturday, September 21. The walking tour at 5:30 PM at Fourth & Faith and go to four different “tiendas” in downtown Dover. We will meet the owners of the stores and discover the different products for sale.
“Tienda” means “shop” in Spanish. In Latin American countries, “tiendas” are quite common. They are small “mom and pop” convenience stores that sell food items and other products to people in the neighborhood.
“In Dover and New Phila, the “tiendas” offer products that are familiar to our Latino neighbors,” says Sherrel Rieger, Adult Program Specialist, “but many Americans are unaware of the variety of items available in the store. The tour will be a great opportunity to learn about the culture and cuisine of our Latino neighbors. ”The walking tour will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 5:30 PM at Fourth & Faith, located at the corner of E. Fourth Street and N. Wooster Avenue in Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123. Participants can have their “passports” stamped at this event.
