DOVER (WJER) (Sept. 13, 2023) – Excitement is building for this year’s installment of the Tuscarawas County Fair.

The fair board held a media night Tuesday to talk about the schedule that begins Sunday evening with the Junior Fair King and Queen Contest, memorabilia auction, and Quilts of Valor presentation. Fair Board President Ed Corpman has been busy preparing the grounds and installing new LED lights in the buildings.

“We started that four years ago. It doesn’t seem like a lot but once you come in here and start rewiring, changing fixtures, it takes time but I am happy to say we’re down to one building left.”

This year’s grandstand lineup features motocross racing on Monday. Doug Wills every high school marching band in the county will be participating in Tuesday’s Band O’Rama, and they’re getting back into the entertainment business with a Wednesday evening performance from That Arena Rock Band.

“We’ve decided we’re going to bring rock n roll back to the fairgrounds and see if we can’t make it rock.”

Wills was also looking forward to opening the newly renovated cheese house, which is scheduled for a health inspection on Monday morning.

“A major commitment was made by the fair board to insulate and cool the cheese house properly and try to revitalize the fact that we are proud of our heritage of being in what I feel is the capital of the cheese world in Ohio.”

There’s a free Touch A Truck event that Thursday in place of the usual monster truck show. The Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association has grandstand shows the next two evenings. The fair then ends a week from Sunday, closing out with the Demolition Derby.
