Firefighters called to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital twice Tuesday

| April 12, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (April 12, 2023) Firefighters responded to two incidents at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Tuesday.

Neither resulted in any injuries, damage to the building, or mass evacuations.

The first incident was around lunchtime. Someone left their food in the microwave too long, causing some hazy smoke on the third floor that firefighters ventilated.

The second happened just after 3:30 p.m. A car caught fire outside the hospital’s main entrance under the canopy.

Hospital officials said they closed a couple of departments near the entrance out of an abundance of caution, but nobody was hurt, and the building wasn’t damaged.

Dover Fire Chief Russ Volkert says the car is a total loss, and firefighters were investigating what caused the fire.
