DENNISON (WJER) (Feb. 18, 2022) – First responders haven’t just been rescuing drivers stuck in high water since Thursday.

Dennison Fire Chief Dave McConnell says they were called out around 9 a.m. Friday to a couple of Taylor Avenue homes near Little Stillwater Creek where flooding is affecting the Thornwood Park area.

The waters had been up to above their basement and the tenant who lived there was concerned about losing power and heat,” said McConnell.

McConnell says firefighters helped two people leave one of the homes with the cooperation of the Warwick Twp. department.

We were able to get the boat right up to the porch and evacuate,” McConnell said.

However, McConnell says two other people elected to stay behind at the home, something he advised against since it could take the department a while to respond to any emergencies there.

McConnell says firefighters would be going back out to check in on people who are remaining at homes around the high water.
