Fires erupt at Strasburg wood products plant
Flames emerging again from rubble at Sugarcreek Shavings at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 15th.
STRASBURG (WJER) (May 15th, 2023) – Firefighters from Strasburg and neighboring departments spent much of the weekend battling fires at the Sugarcreek Shavings heating pellets plant on Hilltop Drive NW.
Firefighters were on scene for more than two hours Saturday afternoon and another eight hours Sunday. They returned for flames rising from a pile of rubble there Monday morning.
Sheriff’s dispatchers say there were no injuries. Investigators believe Sunday’s fire started in a different location than Saturday’s fire.
Strasburg firefighters plan to release more details Monday morning.
