Former employee admits to stealing more than $40k from New Phila church
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 17, 2024) – A Gnadenhutten woman has admitted to embezzling more than $41,000 from a church she used to work for.
Elizabeth Pasquinielli appeared in Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court last week and pleaded guilty to a bill of information charging her with grand theft, bypassing the usual grand jury process. The victim was Emmanuel Lutheran Church In New Philadelphia, whose pastor declined to comment.
Pasquinelli will return to court to be punished for the crime on May 28th. It’s a fourth-degree felony so she probably won’t go to prison, although the judge could send her to jail or impose other sanctions.
