Girls Soccer: Marietta tops Dover 2-0
From Dover Coach James Kline:
Final Score: Dover 0 – Marietta 2
Kickoff: 7:00 PM
Last night, the girls soccer team suffered their first loss of the season to the Marietta Tigers. We didn’t know much about the Tigers, but we figured they were going to be a physical and talented team. They lived up to those expectations from the jump, but we weathered the storm during a tough first half and went into half tied at zeros.
Unfortunately, out of the break we came out flat and Marietta was able to find the back of the net twice in the first ten minutes of the second half. We struggled to match their toughness and quick play and get into our own rhythm. The girls grinded out the second half earning some chances of their own on goal and hopefully putting us in the right direction for the first of two games against our rival New Philadelphia this season on Saturday at Woody Hayes Stadium.
