| April 10, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 9, 2024) – A grand jury has indicted a Dover man for attempted murder and felonious assault for allegedly attacking his roommate with a hammer.
The Tuscarawas County Grand Jury on Monday indicted 47-year-old Kenton George, whose last address was on West Slingluff Avenue, for the first-degree and second-degree felony charges.
George has been in the county jail since Feb. 20.
Just before 2 a.m. that day, a caller from the West Slingluff address reported that his roommate hit him with a hammer and was preventing him from leaving his room, according to police call records.
Police arrested George that day. A magistrate set his bail at $10,000.
The case is now in the courtroom of Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Ernest, who had not immediately set a date for a hearing.
