Groundbreaking is latest bit of good economic development news in Newcomerstown

NEWCOMERSTOWN (May 29, 2024) – The village is set to celebrate another economic development achievement as the good news seems to be coming in waves.

Altor Solutions, formerly Plymouth Foam, will have a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility on Enterprise Drive on Thursday, May 30, at 10 a.m.

Newcomerstown Mayor Pat Cadle says the company will construct a $120,000 facility to house 26 employees moving from Gnadenhutten with plans to add more. Tuscarawas County Economic Development Corp. officials say the company’s total investment will be $23 million.

“They had an agreement and shared a building with Progressive Foam … Progressive wants to expand so they said they need them to leave,” Cadle said.

The groundbreaking news is latest in a series of developments for the village. They include plans for a housing development, a pickle-producing company moving in, and a nearly $800,000 state grant for a downtown facelift.

“We’ve been on a roll! We’ve done real well with a number of things,” Cadle said. “When we got the authentication for the industrial park, we’re on the ‘A list.’ When a company comes into Ohio and is looking for a place to build, JobsOhio has the ‘A list’ which are the authenticated industrial parks in Ohio, so you’re on that short list. There are only 26.”

Cadle says the wave of developments might not be over. He says the village is talking with another company about moving to the industrial park. He wasn’t ready to share details though.
