DOVER (WJER) (Nov. 27, 2024) – Tuscarawas County Health Department officials are telling families about right and wrong ways to serve those Thanksgiving feasts.

Environmental Health Operations Administrator Mike Kopko says the temperature of poultry should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit the whole way through when cooked, including the stuffing inside.

He says the food then when being served shouldn’t be in what he calls the “danger zone” – between 41 and 135 degrees – to prevent bacteria growth.

Kopko says food shouldn’t be left sitting out for more than two hours and it’s best to get it in the refrigerator as soon as possible after the meal is done.
