Health officials share advice to beat the heat

| July 10, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (July 10, 2023) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is asking residents to be cautious with temperatures climbing in the 80s again this week.

The department has been posting frequent updates on Facebook with useful information and graphics about heat-related illnesses and other tips.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Demuth says to try to stay indoors as the mercury rises.

“If you have to be outdoors, wearing that sunscreen is important and trying to limit outdoor physical activities during the hottest part of the day today, whenever possible,” she said.

Demuth says they also encourage drinking plenty of liquids with electrolytes.

“On hot days like today it’s so important to do everything you can to stay hydrated, to also make sure your pets have plenty of water and shade to stay in,” she added.

The Tuscarawas County Health Department last week was giving out free cooling towels and spray bottles to help keep people cool in these conditions.
