Insurance savings in store for Uhrichsville homeowners

| May 4, 2023

UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (May 4, 2023) – City homeowners should be getting a break on their insurance because of the fire department’s lower ISO rating.

It dropped from 4 to 3 at the beginning of December, which entitles policyholders to a discount at their next renewal. Chief Justin Edwards says it’s usually automatic, but that hasn’t been the case for a couple of city homeowners.

“Just coincidentally two times this week I’ve had emails and phone calls from residents or insurance agents. It seems they’re having problems with their underwriters. They’re not catching that the score has improved.”

He encourages anyone whose renewal rate doesn’t reflect the change to call their insurance company.

“So if the residents need anything from me as far as a letter, a copy of the report that was sent, whatever they need to send off to their insurance agent to make sure they’re getting their fair deal with that improvement because they’ve invested in the department, made the score possible, so they deserve to get the cheaper insurance.”

Edwards says he talked to one homeowner whose yearly premium dropped around $300 once the issue got straightened out, and businesses should save even more.
