| September 8, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 8, 2025) – The Millersburg woman jailed for her 4-year-old son’s drowning death at Atwood Lake last month makes her first court appearance on new charges today.

The Tuscarawas County Grand Jury handed down a seven-count indictment late last week against 40-year-old Ruth Miller.

A conviction on the most serious charge, aggravated murder, carries a minimum sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after 20 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

Miller is set to be arraigned before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Michael Ernest today at 3:30 p.m.
