Mother of five gets prison time for sexually abusing kids’ teenage friends

| June 27, 2023

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 27, 2023) – A Uhrichsville woman will spend four years in prison for sex crimes against two teenagers.

That’s the punishment 41-year-old Erika Blakely received this morning during her sentencing for importuning and sexual battery. Assistant County Prosecutor Scott Deedrick requested the prison term for the mother of five, who he says created a party atmosphere in her home that she used to prey upon friends and acquaintances of her own teenage children.

“She allowed juveniles to consume alcohol, have vapes, and even provided tattoos to them, and it’s clear that when those kids became immersed in that party scene that she then satisfied her prurient interests, at least with Juvenile Victim 1.”

The grandmother of one of the teens addressed Blakely during the hearing, calling her a “pedophile.”

“You didn’t realize nor care about the boys you were hurting. If you were a man and the boys were girls, more people would be upset but boys are left with emotional scars the same as girls.”

Blakely was also indicted for including rape, sexual imposition, and unlawful sexual conduct but prosecutors agreed to drop those counts if she pleaded guilty to the remaining two charges. She turned to face the grandmother and the teen’s father when it was her turn to speak and wept as she begged for their forgiveness.

Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge handed down the punishment comes with a lifetime Tier 3 sex offender designation and will be followed by a mandatory five years of supervision by the adult parole authority.
