MWCD envisions more opportunities with move to tech park

| April 15, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 15, 2024) – Leaders at the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District are looking forward to their move to the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park in New Philadelphia.

Marketing and Communications Director Adria Bergeron says they’ve been working on getting everyone under the same roof for a while. They couldn’t accomplish that at the current 3rd Street headquarters in New Philadelphia because of the heavy equipment and machinery utilized by their engineering crew.

Early plans call for a 32,500-square-foot, two-story office building, and a service building to house vehicles and equipment. Bergeron says there are plans for walking trails and other ways to take advantage of the expanded setting. She says the MWCD also wants to find more ways to partner with nearby students.

Bergeron says MWCD will sell the 3rd Street building and its annex building on the city’s east side. She says there’s already some interest from potential buyers.

Bergeron says the MWCD board just recently approved moving forward on the headquarters design so they’re not ready to provide specific dates for when they will build and eventually move into the new facility.
