NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 29, 2022) – The suspect in a child sex abuse case remains behind bars ahead of his next court date.

30-year-old Shane Skelly of New Philadelphia was transferred from the city jail to the county justice center after his initial appearance in New Philadelphia Municipal Court Tuesday morning. He’s accused in a criminal complaint of sexually abusing and endangering a child between 2 and 3 years old, tampering with evidence, and pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor.

Acting Judge Christine Weimer set Skelly’s bond at $250,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Tuesday afternoon to determine whether to send the case to the grand jury.
