New playground coming to Strasburg Park
STRASBURG (WJER) (April 18, 2022) – The village park is getting some new equipment for kids to play on.
Mayor Steve Smith says the large structure the village ordered from the Pentura Company arrived at the end of March and should start going up once the weather breaks.
“The equipment is going to be located a little north of the Boy Scout pavilion, a little north of where the old equipment was removed.”
Smith’s grateful the Reeves and Rosenberry foundations saw the need for a safer play area and stepped up to help fund the project.
“The old equipment was outdated and really wasn’t safe, so therefore we removed that and went with this purchase and we got two grants – one for $50,000 and one for $10,000. It’s about half the cost.”
Park Committee Chairman Dustin Briggs previously told council that the contractor expected to start installing the structure this week, although that may get pushed because of the forecast.
