NP School Board accepts superintendent’s resignation

| February 11, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA – The New Philadelphia School Board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Amy Wentworth Monday. She will stay with the school district until July when she becomes the new superintendent at Indian Valley Schools, replacing her husband, Ira Wentworth, who is retiring.

“We wish you luck as you to Indian Valley, back to your alma mater,” said New Philadelphia School Board President Jennifer Schrock. “We know this isn’t your official good-bye. We know you are going to continue to work hard for New Philadelphia Schools until the end.”

The Board did not discuss the search process for a new superintendent.

Wentworth has been the district’s superintendent since 2021 and was assistant superintendent for six years before that. The Indian Valley School Board approved a three-year contract with Wentworth on Jan. 29.
