Paint Tusc Pink returns for October

| October 4, 2022

DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 4, 2022)  – The community has taken on a different shade with the arrival of October over the weekend and the start of another Paint Tusc Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital spokesman Darrin Lautenschleger says the campaign’s pink yard displays show support to survivors and serve as reminders about the importance of early detection for the successful treatment of breast cancer.

He says studies through Healthy Tusc indicate that approximately 71 percent of women in the county are getting mammograms regularly compared to between 40 and 50 percent when Paint Tusc Pink started about 15 years ago.

Lautenschleger says people who are putting up displays should contact the hospital for a free yard sign promoting the campaign.

They can also share pictures of their displays on the hospital’s Facebook page.
