NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 16, 2022) – Police are still trying to figure out who shattered windows at multiple stores in and around New Towne Mall early Tuesday morning.

Officers initially responded to an alarm activation call at 1:45 from the company monitoring Marshalls, where they found a broken window pane and damaged cash register. Within minutes of that call, alarms started going off at Dick’s and the plaza across the street, where officers encountered more broken windows.

Detective Chaz Willet says the surveillance video he’s reviewed so far shows two men in hoodies and gloves committing the acts, but he doesn’t have a picture that’s clear enough to identify them at this point. He says cash was taken from one of the businesses but couldn’t say which one or disclose the amount.
