Questions remain over fatal bicycle accident on I-77 near Bolivar

| April 22, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 22, 2024) – The State Highway Patrol has been trying to learn why a Dayton area man had been riding a bicycle on I-77 near Bolivar Friday night when he was fatally struck.

The victim was 44-year-old Bartholomew Snow of Xenia.

New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Clinton Armstrong says Snow’s bike was in the left lane on 77 south just after 10 pm when it was hit from behind by a car driven by a 24-year-old Belmont County man.

Armstrong says the car’s driver told troopers that it was dark out and suddenly the bicycle was in front of him.

Armstrong says Snow’s family members don’t know what he was doing in the area and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors.

He says the driver was not at fault and not injured.
