Quick Response Team credited for helping reduce overdose deaths

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 1, 2025) – New Philadelphia’s safety director is sending kudos to the county’s Quick Response Team for reducing the number of overdoses in the area.
New Philadelphia’s fire department is part of the team that works with the sheriff’s office, ADAMHS Board and clinical staff from OhioGuidestone and Springvale Health Centers.
They reach out to individuals who have experienced a non-fatal overdose and help them find resources and treatment options.
City Safety Director Kevin Milligan says overdoes requiring EMS response are down nearly 50 percent since last year in both the city and the county.
