Ramaswamy Visits Tuscarawas County, Outlines Policy Priorities at Local Town Hall
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 8, 2026) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy continued his outreach across Ohio on Friday with a visit to Buckeye Career Center, where he toured the facility and met with local voters during a town hall event.
The visit marked Ramaswamy’s fourth trip to Tuscarawas County since launching his campaign.
During the town hall, Ramaswamy outlined several key policy priorities, focusing on lowering costs for Ohio residents. He said healthcare expenses could be reduced by addressing fraud in the system, while energy bills could decrease through expanded domestic energy production. He also discussed plans to combat crime by strengthening collaboration with federal law enforcement and proposed reducing property taxes by streamlining layers of government.
In addition to presenting his platform, Ramaswamy fielded questions from attendees on a range of topics, including the impact of data centers, the future of Social Security, and concerns related to socialism.
Buckeye Career Center Superintendent Bob Alsept said the school was pleased to host the visit and welcomed engagement from political candidates.
The visit included a tour of the career center, highlighting its programs and role in workforce development in the region.
Ramaswamy is running against Democrat Amy Acton in the upcoming gubernatorial election this fall.
Video of Ramaswamy’s appearance at Buckeye Career Center has been shared on the WJER Facebook page.
