Red Kettles at 25% of goal as campaign winds down
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 16, 2024) – Local Salvation Army officials are both hopeful and uncertain entering the final stretch of their Red Kettle campaign.
Captain Andrew Behr says their biggest yearly fundraiser is currently only at about 25 percent of its $100,000 goal. He says they could have to make some tough budget decisions heading into the new year if donations don’t pick up.
“Anything you can do to help, whether it be money or time, we’ll take it. We’re so appreciative,” Behr said.
Behr says the campaign does typically see a surge in donations closer to Christmas.
“We haven’t been let down yet, I don’t think. This has been a good community. It’s been a generous community, and we understand the economic times are kind of tough,” he said.
“I’m not asking for hundreds of dollars, I’m asking for change and bucks. Whatever you’ve got lying around, just visit that Red Kettle, say ‘hi’ to our workers and drop something in.”
And they could always use more volunteer bell ringers. You can sign up online, as well as check out times and locations, at www.RegisterToRing.com.
