Repair work to impact traffic on I-77

| November 13, 2023

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 13, 2023) – If you’re going to be heading north on I-77 between New Philadelphia and Dover the next couple of days, you may want to give yourself some extra time or find an alternate route.

ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borrell says traffic will be down to one lane along that stretch Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am until 4 pm, which could create some delays and cause traffic to back up during peak travel times.

“For those that are local and familiar, I do encourage folks to find an alternative way during that work. Of course, you can take 39 to state Route 211 there in Dover to avoid that work on 77.”

This is to repair damage at the bridge just past exit 81 from an accident that occurred while that part of I-77 was being repaved.

“Of course, we may see some work going on I-77 that continues but it’s just kind of going to be hit and miss here over the next couple of weeks for the contractor to come back in and do that work.”

There’s a map showing the workzone for Tuesday on the OHGO website and app where you can also check the latest traffic conditions.

ODOT still has a couple of other active work zones in Tuscarawas County, including along State Route 212  through Zoar and Route 800 between Stillwater and Dennison, which is closed daily from 8 to 4 through Thursday for tree trimming.
