Republican Party accepting applications for Dover mayor

| January 25, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (January 25, 2023) – The Tuscarawas County Republican Central Committee is now accepting applications for candidates to fill the vacant Dover mayor seat.

Applicants must live in the city of Dover and be registered to vote with the Republican Party.

Resumes can be mailed to the Tuscarawas County Republican Party, P.O. Box 542, Dover, OH 44622 or emailed to hq@tuscrepublicanparty.com.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 1.

The Dover members of the County Republican Central Committee will interview candidates and select the new mayor Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Tuscarawas County Republican Headquarters at 1053 State Route 39 Northwest in New Philadelphia.

The successful applicant will serve until the end of the year, finishing the term of Richard Homrighausen. The 74-year-old eight-term mayor is disqualified from holding public office after his conviction and sentencing for theft in office and related offenses.

Dover City Council President Justin Perkowski is the acting mayor in the meantime.
