Restitution, probation ordered for break-ins at Tusky Valley, Atwood Dari Bar
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 1, 2024) – A city man has been ordered to pay nearly $1,500 in restitution for a pair of break-ins and another $17,000 in back child support.
The payment order is part of the punishment Tyler Baker, 39, received Tuesday when he appeared before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Thomakos.
Assistant Prosecutor Lacee Felix noted the two break-ins occurred on April 19th and caused damage to both locations.
“The vicitms have suffered economic harm relative to the defendant’s crime with a restitution request for damages for both of those: $528.96 to Tusky Valley Schools and $942.25 to the Atwood Dari Bar.”
Baker spoke briefly when given the opportunity.
“I apologize for my actions. Hopefully, I can move forward with this and get it taken care of.”
Thomakos also placed Baker on probation for three years, during which time he is prohibited from using drugs and alcohol. He’s facing additional charges in Carroll County for a break-in and theft the same morning from the Sherrodsville Dollar General.
