Run for Home still recruiting racers and volunteers for this weekend

| April 4, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 4, 2024) – The final countdown is on for everyone involved with this weekend’s Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home activities from Tuscora Park.

Race Director Matt Ritzert says registration will remain open until just prior to each event this weekend, including on Family Fun Day this Saturday with the 5 and 10k races, the kids’ run, and others.

“We have a one-mile run, and with that one-mile run, families can register at deep, deep discounts,” he said.

Sunday will then be the 17th year for the half marathon, which will again include the three-person team relay that follows the same course.

Organizers are also putting out one last call for volunteers.

Ritzert says volunteers are needed for both days.

“That’s the heart and soul for what we do,” Ritzert said. “Well over 100 people – close to 200 people – help us out on race weekend.”

Ritzert says the volunteer responsibilities include helping with race registration, packet pick-up, finish line duties, and more.

Runners can register in person this weekend or online at runforhome.org.  You can also sign up to volunteer by scrolling to the bottom of the homepage.

Run For Home to date has generated more than $245,000 for Habitat For Humanity projects in Tuscarawas County.
