ZOARVILLE (Dec. 26, 2023) – Tusky Valley’s stadium is getting new bleacher seats.

The school board last week awarded a contract for the work to Kentucky-based athletic facility seating company Dant Clayton. Superintendent Derek Varansky says the more than $350,000 cost is to replace the seats only, not the bleachers themselves.

“We will continue to use the same frame. It’s structurally sound. We had it checked out, so literally we’re just ripping off the seats and the floorboards, and then that will all be brand new.”

The stadium was built 50 years ago and still has most of its original, wooden seats, which Varansky says aren’t up to today’s standards and have gaps in between.

“And so that will all be filled in. We will increase the stairways, so more access to the bleachers, and we’re also adding a handicap platform, which will make sure we’re ADA compliant and that everybody can enjoy the activities that happen within the stadium.”

The timeline depends on the weather and the company’s schedule, although Varansky says the goal is to have the project finished before track season.
