Strasburg starting fall leaf collection

| October 11, 2023

STRASBURG (WJER) (Oct. 11, 2023) – Fall cleanup is about to get easier for village residents.

The street department will be collecting leaves from curb strips for the first time this year. The idea came from Parks Committee Chair Dustin Briggs, who wanted to spare residents from the hassle of bagging up their leaves and putting them out with their trash.

“For our elderly residents, it’s something nice they can work on for a few days blowing out and somebody comes and picks it up.”

Officials are still finalizing a schedule for the collection that’s for leaves only.

“Do not put sticks, branches, rocks, leaves, grass clippings, or other debris into leaf piles which may cause damage to leaf equipment, clog a tube, or cause injury to village employees. Do not rake leaves into the street and avoid blocking catch basins, mailboxes, and fire hydrants.”

Briggs suggested a start date of November 13th but is leaving it up to Street Superintendent Matt Miller. Details will posted on the village website and Facebook page in the coming weeks.
