Strasburg to reveal plans for new multi-purpose athletic facility
STRASBURG (WJER) (Aug. 12, 2022) – Strasburg-Franklin Local Schools officials are about to give families a better look at their planned new sporting complex for student-athletes.
Superintendent Vince Lindsey says it will have a basketball and volleyball court, softball nets, a walking track, a weight room, and more. The multi-purpose athletic facility is slated to be connected to the back of the district’s school building.
He says the district will share designs of the structure and additional details during Monday’s Back to School Bash from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the school.
“They’re ready to roll and we’re really going to start promoting this on August 15th,” Lindsey said.
Lindsey says COVID-19 relief ESSER funds are making this possible.
“We have an opportunity using some federal funds to really grow our district and really set that foundation for success in the future,” he said.
The Strasburg Board of Education has been approving this in steps. The project reportedly could cost close to $3 million, though that hasn’t been finalized.
Lindsey says, weather permitting, they hope to break ground at the start of November and have the facility open around the beginning of the next school year.
