Time change prompts fire safety reminder

| March 8, 2024

CLEVELAND (WJER) (March 8, 2024) – The American Red Cross is encouraging everyone to use this weekend’s time change as a reminder to test their smoke detectors.

Northern Ohio Regional spokesman Jim McIntyre says it’s a practice that could save your life.

“Having a working smoke alarm in your home cuts the chance of having a serious injury or death by a home fire in half.”

The organization and fire safety officials recommend putting a smoke detector on every floor and outside of every bedroom.

“The Red Cross partners with local fire departments to make sure that people who don’t have smoke alarms in their homes get them for free. We will install them and we will make sure that they have adequate home fire safety inhttp://redcross.org/soundformation.”
