DOVER – The Tuscarawas County Sports Hall of Fame welcomed the football season with the first High School Football Preview Night Tuesday, Aug. 1. Eight of nine county head coaches – one was at practice – spoke to a crowd of supporters, past coaches, and school administrators.

Strasburg Coach Jimm Morris says he knows they’re all excited about the upcoming season.

“All of us, at this time, are elevated by the excitement that our kids and our programs have brought,” he said. “I mean, I know it’s only day two of two-a-days, but if your blood isn’t fired up and you don’t have excitement and you’re just not ready to go, then, man, you shouldn’t be in this sport.”

Teams will scrimmage this Saturday. The first Friday night of the regular season is Aug. 18.

Listen to the Five O’clock Report Wednesday to hear what the coaches had to say at the banquet. And listen to WJER in the upcoming weeks for previews of each team’s upcoming season.

Thanks to Solid Rock Photos and Denny Trimmer for the photos from the event.
