Tusky Valley to cut ribbon on new elementary
ZOARVILLE (WJER) (Aug. 29, 2024) – Tusky Valley School District officials are ready to unveil their new elementary school to the public just ahead of the new academic year.
This comes one year after the new middle-high school building opened nearby.
Superintendent Derek Varansky says they’re having a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new elementary today at 6:30 p.m. on Tusky Valley Road Northeast.
“It is a 101,000 square foot facility, completely climate controlled, state-of-the-art technology, lots of safety protocols, so we’re thrilled,” Varansky said. “For the first time in our district history, we will have all of our students on a single campus, so we’re very excited about that.”
He says the teachers have been enjoying it as they set up for opening day, September 3rd.
“They are thrilled for their new spaces. The classrooms are much larger, lots more natural light, bigger windows, and of course everything is now air-conditioned, which is the first time for our elementary teachers to have that,” he said.
The new elementary building previously served as the district’s middle school, which was completely renovated and given a large addition, to serve students in preschool through 6th grade.
The district says there will be a cookie reception and self-guided tours of the new elementary school immediately following today’s ribbon cutting ceremony.
