Two indicted for road rage attack

| May 30, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (May 30, 2024) – There’s been a development in the case Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s officials describe as “a road rage incident turned violent.”

The grand jury has indicted 20-year-old Wyatt Shaw of Gnadenhutten and 19-year-old Landon Levengood of Sherrodsville for felonious assault in connection with the February 9th attack on a New Philadelphia man.

It apparently started when the suspects’ truck cut off the victim’s vehicle, prompting him to honk his horn and flash his lights and the suspects to follow him home and beat him. Detective Captain Fisher led the investigation and described the man’s injuries at the time as “significant.”

“He’s got a couple of broken bones and some stitches to try to correct some of the lacerations that are there. I do believe he has undergone at least one surgery and may potentially need another.”

Shaw and Levengood are scheduled to appear in Common Pleas Court for arraignment on June 26th. Another person with them in the truck was originally considered a suspect but didn’t end up getting indicted.
