United Way hosting communitywide service day
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (May, 4, 2023) – Employees from 23 local businesses and organizations will be spending Friday morning out of the office giving back to the community.
The United Way of Tuscarawas County is hosting its 2023 Day of Caring at 11 partner sites including the Reeves Museum, Dennison Depot, Dover Library, and Historic Schoenbrunn Village. Community Relations Director Susan Reidenbach says you’ll see folks wearing blue and white shirts out sprucing up the grounds, painting, and performing other service tasks.
“Some of our new volunteer groups are from Kraton Chemical this year, Edward Jones Kendall Financial Advisors, and then some of our partner agencies. Noah’s Hope and Big Brothers Big Sisters, they’re going to step up and be out helping in the community.”
Day of Caring volunteers will also be lending a hand to the Blessings in a Backpack and TUFF Bags programs that send meals and snacks home with students who might otherwise go hungry on weekends and school breaks.
“Here in Tuscarawas County, we have been doing it for a number of years, which is great. The amount of hours and sweat equity we’ve added up over the years is thousands and thousands of dollars given back to the community.”
First National Bank of Dennison is sponsoring the effort which will also have teams of volunteers from Cooper-Standard, Gradall, Tusco Display, and Staley Technologies.
