United Way seeking helpers for communitywide service project

| April 11, 2022

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 8, 2022) – The United Way of Tuscarawas County is recruiting volunteers to help area non-profits with their spring cleaning.

Community Relations Coordinator Susan Reidenbach says the Day of Caring is back on Friday, April 29th, after a couple of years off because of the COVID threat.

“What it is, we are getting volunteers out into the community to help build awareness, sort of community spirit, helping with spring cleanup at some nonprofit and local historical sites. A lot of companies use this day as team-building for their employees.”

She says organizations that have requested help that day include Historic Schoenbrunn Village, Trumpet in the Land, the Dennison Depot, and the Reeves Museum, along with the Salvation Army, HARTCATUS, and the TUFF Bags program.

“It is helping them take a load off of even their staff or some of their volunteer groups that help out year-round for them, so it’s nice just to give back to the community that way and beautify it as we go along.”

Businesses wanting to get involved in the effort can sign up by calling the United Way of Tuscarawas County at 330-343-7772 or by emailing susanr@tuscunitedway.org. Reidenbach says participants will gather for breakfast that morning and work at their assigned sites from 8:30 until noon.
