Veterans recognition project resumes in Uhrichsville

| August 2, 2023

UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (August 2, 2023) – A city resident is adding more bricks inscribed with the names of military heroes to the city’s veterans memorial.

Ann Nalley has taken over the recognition project that’s been on hold since the COVID-19 pandemic started a few years ago. She says it broke her heart to see so many open spaces, so she offered to finish the job.

“I suppose there’s 200 and something names already on there, and there’s like 200 left… Well, not quite now. I’ve been working on it for a few weeks. I turn in 10 to 20 orders at a time to the engraver, and they’re ready to be picked up and start being installed already.”

The bricks are $50 each, which Nalley says covers the engraving costs and helps the volunteers who maintain the memorial keep it looking pristine throughout the year.

“They can contact me at 740-202-1122. My name is Ann, and it’s really easy to fill out the application.”

Nalley says the tribute isn’t limited to any specific war or branch of service, and you don’t have to live in Tuscarawas County to participate
