Wednesday fire heavily damages Goshen Township house

| September 4, 2025

GOSHEN TWP (WJER) (Sept. 4, 2025) – New Philadelphia firefighters say a fire caused about $150,000 in damage to a house in the 200 block of Fork Road Southeast Wednesday afternoon.

Nobody was injured.

Fire Captain Robert Snyder says a neighbor working outside discovered it shortly before 4 p.m. and helped escort an elderly man safely out of his burning home.

Snyder says firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later to smoke behind the home and some flames coming from the roof area.

He says the fire started on the back side of the house on the second floor. The cause is being listed as accidental but undetermined, and possibly electrical.

Snyder says the home requires extensive repairs before the two people living there can return. He believes the whole second floor would need gutted, and possibly the first, to make it livable again.

Dover, Uhrichsville, and Dennison fire departments also responded.
